Purpose

The purpose of the Young Investigator Award (YIA) is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of their career (up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/hepatology). Authors / Applicants must be from nationalities of Asian Pacific countries. Young Investigator Award (YIA) is jointly sponsored by the APDWF and the JGHF.

Selection Process

A.Abstract Selection

Qualified Applicants for the YIA will be short listed according to the score assigned by the Abstract Selection Committee. Up to 8 best YIA papers shall be selected. The short listed will be announced in the end of September.

B.Oral Presentation

  • Date &Time: December 4 13:40-15:20
  • All short listed papers should be granted an oral presentation. Each presenter will be given 10 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes to defend their work.

*The authors shortlisted for the award must present their papers personally and pay registration fees to qualify for the award

Assessment

In assessing the applicants for the award, the panel of judges will take into account the following criteria:

  • Quality & Scientific merit of the abstract - 50%
  • Quality of the presentation - 25%
  • Ability to defend the work- 25%

Award Presentation

Date &Time: December 4 19:00-20:30 (Faculty Dinner)
Presentation of the award will be made at the faculty dinner. All short listed applicants will be invited to attend without charge. Three awards shall be given to the best 3 papers presented:

  • 1st Prize: USD 2,000
  • 2nd Prize: USD 1,500
  • 3rd Prize: USD 1,000

The purpose of the Posters of Distinction Award is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of their career (up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/hepatology). and who prefer to present their papers in poster mode. Applicants / Authors must be from nationalities of Asia- Pacific countries. Posters of Distinction Award is sponsored by the APDWF.

Selection Process

A.Abstract Selection

Posters of Distinction Award will open for people who submitted for poster presentation to apply in the end of June. Up to 24 qualified free papers submitted shall be selected as moderated posters. The short listed will be announced in the end of September.

B.Oral Presentation

  • Date &Time: December 4 12:10-13:40; December 5 12:10-13:40; December 6 12:10-13:40
  • All moderated posters should be granted an oral presentation. Each presenter will be given 2 minutes for presentation to the panel of judges and 3 minutes to defend their work.
  • *The authors shortlisted for the awards must present their posters personally and pay registration fee to qualify for the award.

    Assessment

    In assessing the applicants for the award, the panel of judges will take into account the following criteria:

    • Quality & Scientific merit of the abstract 50%
    • Quality of the poster and presentation 25%
    • Ability to defend the work. 25%

    Award Presentation

    A maximum of five (5) Posters of Distinction shall be awarded at USD1, 500 each to presenters from Asian Pacific nationalities

    Objective

    The APDWF / JGHF Travel Grants are to provide the opportunity for clinicians and scientists in the early stages of their career to broaden their education and experience the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. APDWF and JGHF offer up to 20 Travel Grants each.

    Description

    • A maximum of forty (40) grants of US$1,500 each will be available.
    • The Grant can only be used to fund attendance at APDW in the relevant year and is not transferable.
    • Priority will be given to applicants from countries with limited opportunities to attend education and training activities.
    • Not more than 10% of the Travel Grant recipients shall be from the same country.

    Application requirement

    • Applicants must be in the early stages of their career (up to five (5) years following the completion of training in gastroenterology/hepatology.)
    • Applicants must be from nationalities of Asia-Pacific countries.
    • Applicants must submit abstract and present personally at the APDW.
    • Travel Grant recipients must attend the Young Clinician/Investigator Program which will be held on December 2.
    • Applicants must be able to converse in English.

    Selected Notification

    The successful applicants will be informed in the end of August. The successful applicants have 2 weeks to accept the grant
